Get in Touch

Dawson County Busted Mugshots is a private reference resource, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, confirm a release, release anyone, post bond, or pull an official booking record. For a current answer or a copy of a record, contact the government custodian that created it.

Official Dawson County Contacts

The Dawson County Sheriff's Office and its detention center handle county custody and booking records. The DCSO contact directory is the official starting point if a unit or extension changes. Call the non-emergency line for routine questions, and reserve 911 for an immediate emergency.

DCSO's records request page asks for a precise description, subject name, incident date and time, location, case number when known, and requester contact details. It says the office will make every effort to complete a request within three business days, excluding holidays. The first fifteen minutes of search and retrieval time are free. Later administrative, copy, or supply charges may apply, and DCSO should provide cost information before a chargeable request proceeds. There is no published flat booking-photo fee.

Use the Right Records Custodian

The location of an arrest does not always identify the office that holds the record. Dawsonville has no verified municipal police department in the reviewed official material, and sheriff deputies provide law enforcement through the city and county arrangement. A booking at the Dawson County Detention Center therefore belongs with DCSO rather than City Hall.

  • Current county custody: use the DCSO detention page's Current Inmates link. The county-wide Dawson County arrest and roster search explains the custody sequence and its limits.
  • Release or transfer alerts: use the VINE link on the official detention page. VINE is a notification service, not a court disposition or photo archive.
  • Older or released booking records: send a focused request to Amanda Martin. Ask separately for the booking report and a booking photograph if releasable, and include the statutory lawful-use affirmation for a photo request.
  • Selected wanted notices or warrant questions: use Most Wanted Fugitives for the official public-assistance path, then contact DCSO Detention/Warrants. A most-wanted display is not a complete warrant database.
  • Filed charges and outcomes: use Georgia Courts e-access for routing and the Dawson Clerk of Court for the local case file.
  • State-prison custody: use Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender only when a person has entered GDC custody or has a GDC profile.
  • Federal or immigration custody: use the Bureau of Prisons locator for federal imprisonment and the ICE Online Detainee Locator for immigration detention. Neither is a Dawson County booking feed.

Each channel has a different custody scope. A person can leave the county roster while a booking record remains with DCSO, or move from county detention into GDC, BOP, or ICE custody. Confirm the agency before treating a result as current.

City Hall Records Are Different

The City of Dawsonville open-records page and its form are for records created or held by the City, such as city administrative material. They are not a route to a sheriff booking report, current-inmate entry, or booking photograph. Sending a jail request to City Hall can delay the answer because the City does not hold the DCSO detention file.

For city-government records, follow the City's own form and instructions. For a Dawsonville arrest, begin with DCSO because the sheriff's office supplies policing and the county detention center receives the booking. The agency that created or maintains a record controls the response, redactions, fee notice, and any applicable legal restriction.

What to Include in a Request

A short, precise request is easier to match than a broad demand for every record. State the person's full legal name, an approximate arrest or booking date, the location or arresting agency, and the case or booking number if known. Ask for an electronic copy if that is the preferred format. If a booking photograph is sought, request it only if releasable and include the required statement that the intended use complies with O.C.G.A. ยง 35-1-19.

A request for a booking report is not the same as a request for a court disposition. Send case-outcome questions to the Clerk, and send state-prison profile questions to GDC. DCSO can explain its own records process, but neither this resource nor a news publisher can certify the meaning of a charge or the status of a case.

Never treat a roster absence as proof that an arrest did not occur. Processing delay, release, transfer, spelling differences, juvenile confidentiality, and legal restrictions can all change what is visible.
